Getting pregnant at a young age required me to grow up fast and take on responsibilities of a grown woman. Finding out I was pregnant was a shock because I never thought I would get pregnant at 15. Can’t really blame anybody but myself and my child’s father, we should have been more careful. When I first found out I didn’t really know what I would do. I thought about all the options abortion, adoption, and parenting. I know I would never go through with abortion, so my next thought was adoption. I knew my best friend Carson mom couldn’t have any more kids and she really wanted another baby. The thought about her raising my child crossed my mind but to be honest I know I couldn’t give my son away to somebody I would be around all the time. I just couldn’t think of someone else raising my son and I have to watch him grow up calling someone else mom. My decision was to just parent, I didn’t think it was that hard to do. Boy was I wrong parenting at 16 was very hard. Man people said “oh you would never finish high school with a baby”. So I had to prove people wrong no matter what my main focus other than my son Carlos was to graduate high school. I had to graduate so I can show everyone just because I had a baby he wasn’t going to stop me from bettering myself. I also did it for him so I can get a good job and provide for him the right way. Even though it was plenty of times it was hard going to school and taking care of a baby I wanted to give up. When I looked at my son smiling and laughing he motivated me to keep going. I am very appreciative of the support system at home because they also helped me throw my journey. My next step is graduating from college.
